Celebrating Women’s Rights: International Women’s Day 2010 (08 March 2010) and 3rd Anniversary of the Center for Women and Development .

This year the Center for Women and Development (CWD) is celebrating the 3rd anniversary of its official inauguration on 08 March 2007 when it resumed operations in a new building on the south side of the West Lake in Hanoi. At the same time this year marks the 100th International Women’s Day and the 1970th anniversary of the Hai Ba Trung Revolution in Vietnam. It was the German feminist Clara Zetkin, who in 1910 proposed celebrating a special day to advocate for women’s demands in every country of the world. Zetkin was a member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) and the leader of the newly founded "Women's Office" at SPD since 1907.
